Stenson cruises to Sun City title

Sweden's Henrik Stenson was in a class of his own as he fired a final-round 68 to win the Sun City Challenge title by nine strokes on Sunday.
Stenson, who took an eight-stroke lead into the last day, gave a clinical display as the 12-man field failed to get within touching distance of the player who dominated the event from start to finish. "An eight-shot lead going into the final round made me feel pretty comfortable, and I just went out there and took care of business," said Stenson after receiving the £800,000 winner's cheque. "It was a bit slow in the first nine but I seem to like the homeward nine here, and I got the birdies going again."

It was the second biggest winning margin in the history of the tournament, with only Nick Price's 12-shot victory back in 1993 surpassing Stenson's comprehensive triumph. "I'm really happy with this victory - it's a fantastic way to finish the season," added Stenson. "I have really enjoyed the week. The greens were in immaculate condition and the course looked as good as I have ever seen it. "I had such a big lead and that took away a little from the excitement - but nothing takes away from winning." Stenson continued his rich vein of form, having come into the the tournament on the back of an impressive victory in the World Cup alongside his compatriot Karlsson. "It just wraps up a very good season for me. I had three or four great years in a row now, so I am very happy to finish it off with two wins," he said. Britain's Lee Westwood finished in a share of fifth place alongside Sergio Garcia.
